Below is another example of a fake lottery; this one claiming to be from the "STAATSLOTERIJ BV" with multiple addresses in the Netherlands (Nederlands). The Netherlands is home to many such lottery scams.
Note the usual clues to an obvious fraud that we have highlighted in the letter; keep confidential, selected by a random computer lottery, use of bogus email addresses (Netscape does not operate any lotteries!) free hotmail/yahoo email accounts, etc. There is a link to www.staatsloterij.nl which is a working web site. We have not verified whether this is a legitimate business entity in the Netherlands, but even if it is, we are certain that this email is a fake, if for no other reason, than the Netscape email address, and the scammers may just be using the StaatsLoterij name and web site address as a cover.
