Not all hoaxes involve direct attempts to profit from fraud (see medical fraud scams).  Many are hoaxes on the order of large scale practical jokes, urban myths and popular misconceptions that are spread by ignorant, as well as, malicious people.  Here are some current examples of health related hoaxes, myths and rumors that are not true.
